Great scenery, wildlife, and some fun waves make the Lower Clackamas a wonderful introduction to Oregon rafting. The Lower Clackamas River is great for beginner rafting trips, perfect for families with smaller kids or groups just wanting a scenic, mellow day on the river.
We meet only 30 minutes from downtown Portland at Milo McIver State Park. Despite being so close to Portland, the river has a nice sense of isolation as it alternates between scenic sections and small, fun rapids. There is plenty of wildlife as well as side channels to explore, swim, and unwind.

Our Lower Clackamas River trip meets at the Upper Boat Ramp at Milo McIver State Park. The main park entrance is off Springwater Road. Once inside the park, follow the main road straight through any intersection and look for the boat ramp as you near the river. There is ample parking here as well as a bathroom and picnic tables. You can change here and leave dry clothes in your vehicle. Once done changing, we will gather at the launch area and Blue Sky will outfit everyone with a life jacket, paddle and a helmet (if requested). Before we launch, guides provide a safety talk as well as explain how to ride and paddle in the raft.
